The Food and Drink Adventure is a compilation of recipes, photography, nutrition, craft beer, and good times. My name is Krista and my partner in crime is Steve, my best friend and husband.
Together, we created The Food and Drink Adventure.
Our adventure began in 2012 when our paths first crossed in England. I’m a born and raised Canadian who grew up doing stereotypical Canadian things. I played hockey, spent the summer months at the cottage, and always adored a good butter tart.
In February, I traveled to England and met Ste on the second day. He was born and raised in Birmingham, which was where I was stopping off for a few days – or so I thought. I had a paid flight to Dublin – but I never made it there.
I would have once said that love at first sight is a bunch of rubbish, however, I now know it does exist. Steve and I didn’t leave each other’s side. Once it was time to leave, I didn’t get on my flight home.
We eventually realized it was time to come down from the clouds, so I booked a second flight. Also, I didn’t want to be the reason that my mom had a heart attack.
The first week of April, Steve came to visit Canada for my birthday. When he left three weeks later, we kicked it into high gear. He moved to Canada in May and we were married that October. Crazy kids.
Steve and I spend a lot of time cooking and seeking out the best places to eat and drink. Although we do focus on healthy living, we’re more drawn towards high-quality and locally sourced ingredients – considering we do love a good craft beer or two. You’ll hear us talk about what’s going on in the world of brewing often. It’s a very special time for this movement and if you’re fond of beer, it’s important to support local brewers. In fact, it’s important to support all local businesses, farmers especially!
Society has lost their connection with food. It’s time to re-strengthen it, re-connect. You do not need to be a chef to eat well. Be creative, have fun, and don’t be afraid to experiment. The purpose of this blog is to provide you with inspiration. We want to inspire you to get excited about the food you’re eating. Real food, not ‘food’ that contains 56 ingredients, half of which you cannot pronounce.
Steve and I started our journey together, already experiencing a world of adventure. We would now like to invite you to experience this journey with us, appreciating all that food and drink has to offer.
Oh, you may also see this guy mentioned once in a while…
Moe is our biggest supporter and does he ever love food. – he is always looking for crumbs to drop. With a face like that, how can you not share? Good thing he loves lentils, carrots, peas, and blueberries.
Let’s start cooking and drinking, enjoying the simple things in life.
